Do you offer samples of your garden stones and pebbles?
Yes, we do! You can order a sample of our garden stones or decorative pebbles to see the colour, size, and texture before placing a larger order. Each sample weighs approximately 1kg. If the pebbles or stones are larger in size, the sample may contain fewer individual pieces—however, the total weight remains the same. This gives you a clear idea of what to expect when choosing the right pebbles or garden aggregates for your project.
Are the product colours on the website accurate?
We do our best to show accurate colours, but since all our pebbles and garden stones are naturally sourced, some variation in shade and tone is normal. Keep in mind that many product photos are taken when the stones are wet, which can make them appear more vibrant than they will look when dry. If you're unsure, we recommend ordering a sample to see the true colour and texture in person.
How many kilograms are in each bag?
All our garden stones, pebbles, and gravel are packed in 20kg bags for easier handling, moving, and storage. We also offer garden pebbles in size of 1KG as samples, currnetly offering 3FOR1 discount - if you buy 3 different pebbles you pay only for one. We also offer bulk bags (sometimes called tonne bags or jumbo bags) which typically contain 850kg-1000kg, depending on the stone type. Bulk bags are more economical for larger projects like driveways or extensive garden landscaping, while 20kg bags are perfect for smaller areas, borders, or plant pots.
How do I calculate how much gravel or pebbles I need?
The easiest way is to use our free gravel calculator. Simply enter the length, width, and depth of your area, and it will tell you exactly how much you need. As a general guide, you'll need approximately 80-100kg per square metre for a 50mm depth. For smaller pebbles (up to 20mm), we recommend a minimum depth of 40mm, while larger pebbles (40-80mm) work best at 50-70mm depth.
Do the pebbles need to be washed before use?
Our decorative pebbles and garden stones arrive clean and ready to use straight from the bag - no washing required. However, they may have a light dust coating from transport, which is completely normal. If you prefer, a quick rinse with a hose will remove any dust and make the colours more vibrant. Once laid in your garden, natural rainfall will keep them looking fresh.

What depth should I lay my decorative stones?
The recommended depth depends on the size of your pebbles or gravel: • Small pebbles (10-20mm): 40-50mm depth • Medium pebbles (20-40mm): 50-60mm depth • Large pebbles and cobbles (40-80mm): 60-70mm depth • Gravel for driveways: minimum 50mm depth Laying stones too deep makes them uncomfortable to walk on, while too shallow allows weeds to push through and looks patchy.
Will pebbles and gravel stop weeds from growing?
Decorative pebbles and gravel significantly reduce weed growth, but for best results, we recommend laying landscape fabric or weed membrane underneath before adding your stones. A proper depth of 40-50mm of pebbles combined with weed membrane will block most weeds from growing. Any that do appear will be easy to pull out, making garden maintenance much simpler compared to bare soil or bark mulch.
Do I need to prepare the ground before laying pebbles?
Yes, proper ground preparation ensures the best results and longevity. Here's what we recommend: 1. Remove any existing grass, weeds, or debris 2. Level and compact the soil 3. For driveways or paths, lay a MOT Type 1 sub-base for structural support 4. Install landscape fabric or weed membrane 5. Spread your decorative pebbles or gravel evenly This preparation improves drainage, prevents weeds, and stops pebbles from sinking into soft ground over time.
What can I use decorative pebbles and gravel for?
Decorative pebbles and garden gravel are incredibly versatile! Popular uses include: • Driveways and pathways • Garden borders and raised beds • Around trees, shrubs, and plant pots • Water features, ponds, and rockeries • Japanese and contemporary garden designs • Ground cover to replace lawn or bark • Drainage solutions and French drains Different stone sizes work better for different applications - smooth, rounded pebbles up to 20mm are ideal for comfortable pathways, while larger cobbles create stunning borders and features.
